Joe McDonald, ACI

Joe McDonald is a prominent figure in the captive insurance industry, actively participating as a leader in the space. He collaborates with experienced captive managers, brokers, actuaries, and business owners to deliver comprehensive captive insurance solutions that enhance risk management and control.
As a vocal advocate for captives, he contributes articles and content to various print and online platforms. His work provides valuable insights into the captive industry and offers a thoughtful perspective on risk management practices and captive insurance company operations. He has spoken at both national and international conferences on the topics of captives and captive regulation.
Joe previously served as the Director of Captives for the South Carolina Department of Insurance, becoming one of the youngest individuals to hold this position. Prior to joining the South Carolina Captive Division, he was the Captive and Risk Finance product manager at the International Risk Management Institute (IRMI). He is also an original member of the Captive Insurance Companies Association's (CICA) "NextGen" Committee and continues to serve the industry in this capacity.
